Watering cans, or works of art?

This photo is an outtake from the gallery I did a couple of days ago of scenes from last Saturday’s Tweed Garden Tour. In the stunning gardens of one of the places on the tour – the home of Don DeGenova and Chuck Mustard – were watering cans that have each been painted by a different local artist. Aren’t they delightful? They are part of a summer-long silent auction, an event in aid of the very busy Tweed and Area Arts Council. If you like the look of these pretty garden tools (or decorative objects) you should visit one of the special events in Tweed at which they’ll be on display this summer, and place your bid! There’s more information in the About section of the arts council’s website (tweedartscouncil.ca) – and the local press has been writing about the project. Personally, I think it’s an utterly charming idea. I’d be more than happy to have ANY of these watering cans in my garden!
